Siege of Stone
Siege of Stone is the third book in the Nicci Chronicles series and follows up with the direct consequences of everything that happened in Shroud of Eternity. Not only has the shroud protecting Ildakar failed, but an ancient stone army has reawakened and they only have 1 goal, destroy Ildakar and conquer the world. While Nicci, Nathan and Bannon focus on trying to defeat this massive army, there is another nefarious threat sailing every closer.
With the huge ancient army reawakening, and the Norukai, we finally have some villains that are deep, complex, and interesting. One of them at one point I even felt some sympathy for. But, I would be lying if I said that this was my favorite book of the series. Plot wise, there is not a lot that actually happens, instead it feels like most of this story is set up for the final book in the series. There is no clear ending of the story arch and it ends on a major cliffhanger that I don’t feel was deserved.
But at this point I am so invested in Nicci’s journey that I really need to find out what happens, and what it will take for her to save the world.
