Queen of Air and Darkness

Queen of Air and Darkness is the third and final book in The Dark Artifices series, and picks up directly after the shocking ending of Lord of Shadows. Emma, Julian, and the large cast of their family and friends must deal with a divided government, an evil fairy king, and the crazy un-dead Annabelle Blackthorn. Not only do they have to battle all of these external forces, but their own romantic feelings for each other are slowly cursing them, and tearing them apart.

There is so much plot packed into this book - romance, sex, death, betrayal, angels, demons, alternate dimensions… everything you’ve come to love from the Shadowhunter world. There are so many characters, and so many story-lines that I had no idea what was going to happen, or how anything was going to be resolved.

I was so invested in all the diverse character relationships in this book, and I wanted all of them to have a happy ending. But, just like in real life, that is not how things work. While the main story-line was resolved, not all of the side stories had happy endings, leaving a sweet, but kind of sad ending to this otherwise perfect trilogy.
